Applesauce
8 tart apples
1/2 cup of water
1/3 cup of sugar
11/2 teaspoon butter
Nutmeg
Cinnamon
Wash, quarter, and pare the apples, add water and cook gently until tender, stir until apples are well mashed. If any lumps remain, rub through strainer, add sugar and butter, and stir sugar has melted. If apples are sour ,you may add more sugar.A nutmeg or cinnamon may be added those who like it. See Menu II
