Beef Loaf
Traditional puritan meat loaf from New England. Modest and simple as all the meals of British families. There is no other spices except the salt and the ground black pepper.
For this beef loaf you will need
1 lb of beef- round steak preferred
4 pulverized crackers - we prefer the Graham Crackers
1 egg
1/2 cup of sweet fresh milk
1/2 cup of sweet fresh unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon of black ground pepper- we prefer ground alspice pepper in our family
Wash your round beef steak and dry it with a paper towel. Chop your steak in the meat chopper with the finest blade two times. I prefer to use the meat blender instead of the chopper. This way the loaf comes out softer. Beat the cold egg with a pinch of salt, add the black pepper and the salt and add into the minced beef. Soak the crackers in the milk and add into the minced meat. Rub the loaf well with hand, add the melted butter into the meat and put the beef into the well greased baking pan. Bake in the medium hot oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
