MERRY WIDOW FRUIT CAKES
Veuve Cliquot- the popular brand of Champagne of France. She was the real famous historical figure of 1900ds and her nickname was Merry Widow. Even the famous operette- The Merry Widow is still a grand success for two hundred years. The famous American fruit cakes- Merry Widow were served in the USA in 1916. Here is the original recipe of the Grand Americana cake.
4 pounds of rich heavy sweet fondant cream
11/2 lbs of assorted French fruit
14 ounce of vanilla extract
Take 4 pounds of fondant cream melt and melt this cream down in a bonbon pot. Then take 11/2 lbs of assorted French fruit(assorti), wash them, peel them and chop them fine. Mix this fruit mass into the bonbon pots with the melted cream and add to the candies 14 ounce of pure vanilla extract. When the mass is ready, pour it out from the pots on the wax paper, into thin round cakes, about two inches across using a bonbon fork spoon. When your fruit cake cools down fully and gets cold, dip it into melted chocolate.
