Home Ground Wheat Bread
The home made bread of our great grandmother from the state of Iowa. Our family was baking this bread since 1917.
For this bread you will need:
1/4 cups water or fresh skim milk
1/4 teaspoons of kosher salt - Morton salt works fine if found the coarse one on sale
1 Tablespoon of white granulated cane sugar
3 cups of white home ground wheat flour
11/ 2 cake of dry yeast or 1 gill of liquid yeast
Set half of the flour for - let a sponge raise at night, for it you are using only half of the flour. In the morning you add the rest of the flour to the sponge and beat the dough well. Let it rest several mins, in the loaves and put them into a greased pan allow to rise until it doubles its bulk and bake in the medium hot oven for an hour and 15 minutes.
