MANHATTANETTE SUNDAE( ANOTHER VERSION) -CLASSICS OF THE AMERICAN PHARMACIES
The Classic Grand Americana recipe. The popular American ice-cream and family dessert was sold in all the pharmacies of the United States of America in 1918 all year. The original recipe of the New England, Boston, and New York pharmacies. The sundae was sold in the pharmacies for 15 cents of 12 ounces serving glass.
For this original American classic ice-cream- sundae dessert of the beginning of the last century you will need:
A slice of a fresh pineapple
No 8 cone of vanilla ice-cream
1 ounce of fresh crushed orange
1/4 of the fresh banana fruit
1 ounce of whipped cream
1 ounce of water-ice
1 fresh strawberry or 1 maraschino cherry
Place a circle of freshly sliced pineapple fruit of about three sixteenths of an inch thickness into the bottom of a champagne glass shape or ice-cream saucer. Onto this fruit you nicely arrange a No 8 cone of plain vanilla- ice cream and 1 ounce of water ice. Or two kinds of ice-cream may be used instead. Over this dessert, pour a ladle (1 ounce) of fresh crushed orange, which should be seriously heavy with fruit. Peal half of a banana fruit and quarter it lengthwise. Place one on each slice of of the four sides of the fruit onto the cone meeting at the top, like a tent. Onto this put a spoonful-1 ounce of a whipped cream and crown this masterpiece with a maraschino cherry or a fresh strawberry (during the season).
