MARSHMALLOW EGG
The Classic Grand Americana recipe. The popular American fountain drink and family dessert was sold in all the pharmacies of the United States of America in 1918. The original recipe of the New England, Boston, and New York pharmacies. The coctail was sold in the pharmacies for 10 cents of 12 ounces serving glass.
For this original American classic coctail of the beginning of the last century you will need:
2 fluid ounces of vanilla syrup
3 tablespoons of marshmallows
1 fresh egg
shaved ice
2 tablesppons of white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of finely chopped maraschino cherries
You begin by making this marsmallow and egg coctail by drawing into your 2 ounces of vanilla syrup, and adding into it 3 tablespoonfuls of marshmallows. Beat one egg with a 2 tablespoons of white sugar and add this whip into your syrup. Add enough of the cracked ice to fill the 12 ounce serving glass. Mix with electric mixer, fill with carbonated water or club soda. Toss the drink into the serving glass. Top with 2 spoonfuls of the whipped egg, and sprinkle with the finely chopped maraschino and serve with a couple of straws.
