For this classic Native American Apple Charlotte you will need
2 pounds of apples
1 pound of white granulated sugar
3 lemons
Take two pounds of the apples of your choice, pare them and slice them into very thin slices. Put them into a deep cast iron pan and add one pound of white granulated sugar and mix into the apples the juice of three lemons and the grated rind of one lemon.
