Ginger Cookies

 Ginger Cookies 

1 egg 

1 cup milk 

1 cup molasses

4 cups flour 

Pinch of salt 

1 tablespoon soft shortening or butter substitute 

2 level teaspoons soda 

2 teaspoons ginger 

 A few raisins 

Cream shortening add molasses and some of the flour, sifted with ginger, soda, and salt .Add milk alternately, with remaining flour then add beaten egg. Mix thoroughly, and drop from teaspoon on buttered tins. Put a raisin on top of each cookie,  and bake in moderate oven. See Menu VIII
