For this original American classic ice-cream- sundae dessert topping of the beginning of the last century you will need:
10 eggs
1 quart of 22 per cent cream
1 quart of pure maple syrup
4 ounces of caramel syrup

For this type of dessert topping and dessert sauce, you take take 10 chilled eggs and beat them lightly with some syrup. Then you slowly beat in the heavy cream and add into this the maple syrup and the caramel syrup. Whip this with beater lightly. Put into the double boiler and put on the stove. Stir vigorously and cook until the mixture custards nicely.
