MAPLE FIG DRESSING -CLASSICS OF THE AMERICAN PHARMACIES

For this original American classic ice-cream- sundae dessert topping of the beginning of the last century you will need:
1 pound of figs
1 gallon of Maple syrup
MAPLE FIG DRESSING
For this type of dessert topping and dessert sauce, you put one pound of figs into cold filtered water and soak them through the night. Drain them well and run through the fruit chopper. Put your chopped figs into the cast iron kettle and add to this 1 gallon of good quality maple syrup and bring the syrup and figs to a boil. When you syrup starts thickening, turn the fire off. When you get this dressing cold this dressing with can be diluted with more maple syrup or the if too thick for the use.
