For this original American classic ice-cream- sundae dessert topping of the beginning of the last century you will need:
1/2 of gallon of maple syrup
1 pound of pecan nut meats finely chopped

For this type of dessert topping and dessert sauce, you take a 1/2 of the gallon of a good maple syrup and heat it in a copper kettle wih 1 pound of chopped pecan nut meats. Bring the nuts and syrup to the boiling point. Then turn the fire off and let them cool down.
