Salmon Salad

Salmon Salad For New Year's Eve

This is the salmon salad our family traditionally served for the New Year's Eve- tradition of our families from Alaska.

1 can of salmon

3 Tablespoons of sweet fresh unsalted butter

3 eggs

1 cup of bread crumbs

1/2 cup of rolled crackers- we use Graham Crackers

1/2 cup of fresh sweet milk

1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt- Morton salt works fine as well

1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon of celery salt or to taste

For this traditional Alaskan salad of the New Year's eve you will need to open the can of a canned salmon- flakes in the brine. However salmon in oil works fine as well. Soak your bread crumbs in the milk and add the cracker dust into the bread. Beat the cold egg with a pinch of salt, add the eggs and the salmon into the bread crumbs and add the melted butter. Steam this pudding/ salad in the water bath over the stove for an hour, then put into the mold to cool down and serve cold.
