Apple Pies for Children
5-6 Apples
1 cup of sugar
1 Lemon or
1 Lemon juice
1 cup of breadcrumbs
3 table spoons of milk or
3 table spoons of cream
Butter
A nice make believe apple pie for little people, who are not allowed pastry, is made by preparing five or six apples as for stewing. Put them in a pie dish with sugar and a little lemon juice. A cup of sugar will be enough, unless apples are very tart. Cover with fine stale breadcrumbs. Pour three table spoons of rich milk over the top, and bake until fruit is cooked and the top nicely browned. These can be made in saucers for individual servings. MF Lawrence Mass See Menu VI
