Currant Coffee Cake
For this Currant Coffee Cake you will need
1/2 Cupful of Black Coffee
1 /2 Cupful of Fresh Sweet Milk
2 Teaspoonfuls of Baking Powder (Calumet or Glabber Girl works the best)
2 Cupfuls of Flour
11 /2 Cupful of fresh Currants
1 Egg
1/2 Cupful of Fresh Sweet Butter
1/2 Cupful of Sugar
1 Teaspoonful of Powdered Cinnamon
Beat the butter and sugar to a cream and add the egg well beaten. Add to the batter the coffee, the milk, the flour sifted with the baking powder, and the currants, well cleaned. Turn over the dough into a square greased baking pan, and sprinkle the top of the cake thickly with sugar and cinnamon. Bake in a moderate oven for at least three quarters of an hour.
