A Quick Fruit Cake

 A Quick Fruit Cake 

1 cup sugar 

1/2 cup shortening 

2 eggs 

1 teaspoon soda 

2 cups flour 

1/4 teaspoon salt 

1 cup sour milk 

1 lb seeded raisins

1 orange juice (and half of rind) 

Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well. Add sour milk alternately with flour sifted with salt and soda. Put raisins and orange through grinder, and add with flour. Bake in loaf or drop in wax crinkle cups placed in muffin tins. Bake in moderate oven. They may be iced with any favorite icing Mrs GHO Aristes Pa
