HAM AND EGG SALAD SANDWICH - CLASSICS OF THE AMERICAN PHARMACIES
The Classic Grand Americana recipe. The popular American snack and family meal was sold in all the pharmacies of the United States of America in 1918 all year round. The original recipe of the New England, Boston, and New York pharmacies.
For this original American classic snack and the family dessert meal of the beginning of the last century you will need:
1 fresh wheat roll or the rye bread roll
1/2 ounce of fresh unsalted butter
2 eggs
1 slice of boiled ham
1 head of lettuce
To make this sandwich, you will need to boil the eggs hard and to chop them fairly fine. The best to do this is in the blender with the finest blade. Mix in the bowl the hard boiled chopped eggs with about half of this quantity of the chopped cold boiled ham. The ham should be chopped finer than the egg. The best way is to better run the ham through a mechanical meat chopper. Cut your bread roll into half and butter both slices well. Cover the the salad with the French dressing and spread it on a lettuce leaf and place between two thin slices of buttered rye bread or the wheat roll. Wrap your sandwich in a wax paper
