DUTCH ICE-CREAM LAW OF 1929
THE FAMOUS MAGAZINE OF THE USA- The Creamery and MILK PLANT MONTHLY - YEAR 1929, MONTH OF NOVEMBER PUBLISHED THE NOTICE ABOUT THE LAW ADOPTED IN NETHERLANDS, EFFECTIVE 1929 SEPTEMBER.
According to this law, the Government of Holland has officially adopted the term ice-cream and legally defined what is legally called the ice-cream.
What is the ice-cream? (According to the law of Netherlands of 1929?)
According to an official decree issued in the Netherlands which became effective September 1 1929(a hundred years ago, so to speak), the product indicated by the name "roomijs", which means the (ice-cream), and any combination of words. including the word "cream", must contain in itself a milk fat content of not less than 12 per cent.
This means a simple fact- officially, the ice-cream is the dairy product which contains no less than 12 per cent of fat in the product.
This was signed by Mr. C. Gorter, of the office, of the Commercial Attache at The Hague,to the Department of Commerce.
The law defined, that the containers, in which the above mentioned products are transported, kept in stock, or sold, from must contain on the outside the name by which the product should be indicated, according to the requirements of the decree.
The preparation, packing and transportation of the products may be only by persons who are dressed cleanly during their activities and who have clean hands.
