Christmas Drop Cakes
(Old New England Recipe)
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
3 eggs
1 cup milk
4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup raisins
11/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Grated rind of a lemon
Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar then cream again. Add eggs when thoroughly blended, then add milk alternately with flour sifted with baking powder and nutmeg. Add grated lemon rind and raisins. Drop by 1/3 tea spoonfuls upon greased pans. Sprinkle with sugar and bake in moderate oven. Makes nine dozen cakes.
